Along with the regular business of an annual meeting, there was the opportunity to learn from other auxiliaries though written and oral reports. Morning guest speaker Paul H. Schurman spoke of the work of the PEI Seniors' Secretariat, and afternoon speaker Her Honour Dorothy Lewis talked about the 1864 Charlottetown Conference and the 150th anniversary celebrations held this year. Mrs. Lewis is the wife of PEI Lieutenant Governor Frank Lewis and a member of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Auxiliary in Charlottetown.
A beautiful lunch was catered by Between Friends, and local musician Roy MacCaull entertained after lunch. Door prizes and a chance to speak with friends old and new completed the day.
It is often said that healthcare is under pressure, both in terms of financial and human resources. This can also be said of the volunteers groups who support healthcare facilities - there are never enough people and there is never enough money. Volunteers listening and supporting each other in the work they do is important, and the PEIAHA helps its members do just that.
